Thursday’s show was supposed to be a lot about our blood drive in Hendersonville. That changed when so many people showed up in Hendersonville, we had to quit talking about the event on the air.
We did talk about the 11-year-old to wrote to the president about getting bullied. She got a letter back, and now she is fighting back.
We shared why August 5th is a great day to go buy a Dairy Queen Blizzard, and we covered a little on why cheerleading isn’t a sport. Give me “P-L-A-Y” button, and let’s get rolling.

McDonald’s has cancelled their nationwide smoothie giveaway that we talked about the other day.
There are some places that we’ve grown accustomed to waiting at, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. Today we looked at some revolutionary businesses that are actually guaranteeing appointment times, and if they break the guarantee they pay you!
We also shared some more neat stories about blood donors, and Clarke kept us updated on all the generous blood donors in Lincolnton. We’re off to Asheville tomorrow.

We got into some interesting stuff today. I mentioned in passing that I figured a restaurant that gets an 85 or a “B” in a health grade is above average, so I’d eat there. Most disagreed. We even heard some great insight from Sarah, a real-life health inspector.
We had a great interview with Nan, a lady from Brevard who fought leukemia and won this year. She told her story and how so many blood donors made all the difference in saving her life.

We covered a lot of ground on Friday between big thunderstorms and bad traffic accidents First we shared about an engaged couple that won $250,000 in the lottery. We talked about what it might be nice to start marriage with.
A Chicago museum is looking for someone to spend a month living in the museum and to report on their experiences. In fact, they’re willing to pay someone $10,000 to do it. Click here for the link to their application website.
We shared the sad story of a family that learned of there son’s death by a drunk driver on the news. We also had some happy news as a child that’s been missing for over seven years was found safe and sound this week.

We had a jam-packed show on Thursday. We looked at North Carolina’s huge

drop in crime. We talked about why people always think we were safer in the “good ol’ days”.
It was an amazing moment as oil stopped flowing in the gulf for the first time in 87 days. We’re holding our collective breathe, probably like most people who live on the Gulf Coast.
I shared a magical parenting moment that happened to me, and one that happened to comedian Steve Carrell and much, much more.

North Carolina picked up over 440,000 bags of litter from our highways last year. The state is looking for your help in “swatting a litterbug.” As mentioned on today’s show,
you can click here to report someone for littering. They get a friendly reminder letter in the mail from the state patrol.
Some folks are worried about the YMCA, changing their name simply to “The Y”. I shared why I’m not.

USA Today has a challenge for families in the U-S to turn off the TV and to get active. One family is getting active, and it’s paying dividends.
“The Blind Side” which told the story of Michael Oher and how a wealthy Memphis Family took him and ended up adopting him was a huge movie last year. It even netted actress Sandra Bullock some big awards. Now the real Tuohy family is sharing their storyand their faith. We shared some of what they had to say to the country.
The North Carolina is thinking about nixing cell phone use in cars. We tackled that too.

It was 21 years ago today when Bo Jackson hit a 448 foot home run in Major

League Baseball’s All-Star Game. In addition to playing baseball, he was an all-pro football player too. That’s part of what started Nike’s “Bo Knows” commercial campaign. Today we examine what Bo still knows.
We also talked about how some people, even the rich, are redefining what it means to live in the life of luxury.
