On Thursday, July 27^th, 106.9 the Light partnered with Compassion International for a “ Day of Compassion.”

106.9 the Light WMIT asked listeners to sponsor one of the more than 50,000 children on Compassion's waiting list. The cost to sponsor a child is only $32 per month. You responded by sponsoring 275 of these precious children in one day.

General Manager Jim Kirkland send back images and thoughts from Kenya the week prior regarding some of the children listeners had the chance to sponsor. “Our listeners made the difference between a child who lives a life of hopelessness and a child you knows they have hope.”

Children sponsored through Compassion International receive educational assistance, supplemental food, clothing, health care education and training, opportunities for personal growth and development and lots of love and encouragement.

The child is also connected to a local church and be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with God. In the past 12 months alone over 78,000 sponsored children accepted Christ!
