Million Leader Mandate Training with EQUIP

Radio station listeners fund 5,613 leaders in Oppressed Countries

Black Mountain, NC – February 9, 2007 – On February 8th, 106.9 the Light WMIT raised $140,336 in support of Equip Ministries “Million Leader Mandate” as part of its week long “What’s Up? On-Air Missions Conference.”

The “Million Leader Mandate” has the goal of training a million Christian leaders around the world. The focus of the current effort is training leaders inNorth Korea and Vietnam.

During the twelve hours on the air, 1,087 WMIT listeners supported the training of 5,613 Christian leaders. Each leader commits to training 25 more leaders raising the total number to 145,938 Christian leaders to be trained in these oppressed nations.

“For just $25, a leader is trained for three years. That leader in turn trains 25 more, who in turn train 25 more,” stated WMIT General Manager Jim Kirkland. “The gifts provided by 106.9 the Light’s listeners provide nine times the base number of church leaders presently in two of the most oppressed countrissses on Earth.”

The on-air conference included interviews with missionaries, ministry leaders and others sharing how God is working around the world. The conference places special emphasis on how local people have been called to support or even facilitate God’s work.
