106.9 the Light Partners with Chick-fil-A & Operation Chirstmas Child
Black Mountain, NC – November 1, 2008 – Chick-Fil-A and 106.9 the Light will partner for the fourth year in a row during Operation Christmas Child Collection Week to collect shoeboxes with gifts for children around the world.
During November 17 through 21, 106.9 the Light will travel to ten Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Asheville, Charlotte (2), Gastonia, Hendersonville, Hickory, Morganton, Shelby, Statesville (North Carolina), and Rock Hill (South Carolina). Listeners were encouraged to drop off shoeboxes between 4:00pm and 8:00pm and receive a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich for doing so.
Each location will collect during one dinner time during the week. A location schedule is posted online at 1069thelight.org.
The partnership resulted in over 5,200 shoeboxes collected in 2007.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions outreach while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas – Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language.
Founded by Billy and Ruth Graham in 1962, 106.9 the Light’s mission is to lead as many people as possible into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. The station broadcasts from its studios in Black Mountain, N.C. to portions of seven states and around the world on the Internet at www.1069thelight.org. 106.9 the Light is a listener-supported ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
