Water Tank Fund

After 35 years of faithful service to Girl Scout Camp Golden Valley, the 30,000 gallon water tank has become unrepairable.  The water tank is old and no longer capable of retaining water.  Unfortunately, replacement of the tank will require an enormous financial commitment of approximately $25,000.

Due to multiple years of natural disasters which have included pine bark beetle infestations, ice storms and tornadoes, the Camp Golden Valley capital reserve funds have been nearly depleted.  While proceeds from the council’s annual cookie program help underwrite the costs of maintaining camp, replacement of the water tank will certainly require financial assistance from other sources.

“Girl Scout Summer Camp” is such an important part of the whole leadership development program for girls.  It is open to all girls and about 25% or our campers will attend camp via a “Campership” (a scholarship program for girls in need).

Not having a water source at Girl Scout camp certainly isn’t an option if we expect to run Camp Golden Valley this summer.  We absolutely must replace our current tank with one of the same size or purchase several smaller ones, in order for all areas of the camp to have access to safe, clean water for drinking and showering.

We hope that individuals, groups and or businesses in our community will consider helping us with this challenge through a direct financial gift.  We rely on, and appreciate, the community’s support of Girl Scouting, especially during times of unexpected need.”
