Monday’s Show for March 8, 2010

March 8, 2010

When you talk about people and their children, it brings out strong opinions.  That was the case when we talked about a proposal by school districts in 17 states to go to a four-day, school week, next year.

On a completely different note, scientists tell us the earthquake in Chile was so big that it actually shortened the length of our days.  We need more time not less!  That led to a discussion of what you would do with just an extra 10 minutes a day.

We also talked about the case of the missing ice cream cone in my wife’s car.

Happy listening!

The picture is of Giuliano Stroe, currently the Guinness Book of World Records holder for world’s strongest child.  He can do 20 guy push-ups and walk on his hands for over 30 feet while holding a weight between his legs.  He’s one little boy I dont’ think I’d mess with.  That got us to talking about extraordinary things that your child can do.   We also shared the story of actor Mark Harmon from NCIS.  We talked about Michael W. Smith on his media tour of New York to promote the song “Come Together Now” and Haiti relief.

Recently we’ve been playing the song “Come Together Now” on the station.  It’s a project that Michael W. Smith put together along with hundreds of his closest friends in Christian and country music.  I already thought the song was amazing, but the video sealed the deal for me, so I wanted to share it with you.  I love the part during the second chorus where the kids choir chimes in with the artists.  Kids sing with such abandon.   There is now a complete album that goes to supporting Haiti and you can buy it by clicking on this link. You can also just purchase the single “Come Together Now.”
